Hi there!
I’m Brittany Forgione, or as most call me “BForge” or “Forge,” hence the title of this blog. Outside of my day job as a NYC public relations director in the tech and entertainment scene, I’m an ultra-distance triathlete (2x IRONMAN 140.6) and all-around health and fit-obsessed chica. Big adventures are my thing, hence the desire to race 140.6 miles (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run of fun)! Call me bananas, but I just might get hungry.
From PR in the office to PRs at the finish line (get it? hehe), I’m here to share my fitness journey with you, which pretty much began when I was a gymnastics-lovin’ tween, sporting tummy belts and glitter eyeshadow. Don’t worry, I have since moved on, glitter-free, and I have set some pretty hefty goals for myself. Coined a gym rat in and around my college years, I was confined to a hamster wheel, soon realizing how bored I was. Then into my first job at a TV show, I got the amazing opportunity to be the on-the-road publicist for ultra marathoner and New York Times Bestseller Dean Karnazes as he ran across the country from LA to NYC in 75 days to raise awareness and funds for Action for Healthy Kids, all while being televised. At 25, this was the coolest experience of my life, and still holds a dear place in my heart. Not only was I all of a sudden running miles and miles a day, but I was seeing and appreciating the country by foot. I was challenged, honored, humbled, and homesick, but I grew strong…both inside and out.
When I returned to New York, I was hungry for some endurance action, so I signed up for marathons and did a handful within the year. Soon after, I became a NASM-certified personal trainer, started working at a fitness magazine, and met incredible women who would introduce me to my next chapter: triathlon!
In the past several years, I have competed in multiple races: half marathons, marathons, duathlons, ultra relay runs, sprint triathlons, olympic triathlons, Ironman 70.3s, and full distance Ironmans. Though I’m an intermediate athlete by level, I am one of the happiest campers on the course, always with a smile from ear to ear (the pictures explain it all). My journey to a finish line is hard work but I always have FUN with it. Most importantly, I enjoy sharing my experiences with others, because I too can struggle with scheduling, exhaustion, and doubt from time to time. *Just Remember,* FIT here means FINDING INNER TRIUMPH. I encourage all men and women to dig a little deep to find belief in themselves and know that you CAN DO ANYTHING you put your mind to. Your body will surely follow.
So join me on this journey! From workouts, to nutrition, to news and trends, I’ll keep you informed and we’ll have some fun. But most importantly, I hope you can find inspiration to conquer your own finish lines in life.
Healthy wishes,
-Brittany
